Flameworking

“Like. Fire Spinning?”

…just one of the responses I get when answering the question, “What do you do?”

Flameworking, also called torchworking, is a process using a table top torch to melt and manipulate rods of glass.

I use a type of glass called Borosilicate, which is often referred to as “hard glass.” It is a durable material that allows me to create varying sizes of work that remain lightweight and wearable.

Borosilicate, also known as Pyrex, has a high melting point, and is resistant to thermal shock. It is the choice glass used for cookware, scientific purposes, pipes, and jewelry.
